Grandfather and grandson read Torah. The grandfather in traditional costume, the grandson holds the Israeli flag, and wears shorts and an "Israeli" hat. The title of the cartoon on the bottom left is: "the first Simchat Torah the State of Israel".

"Dosh" - the artistic nickname of Karl (Karyel) Gardosh (1921-2000) - one of the leading graphic designers of Israeli culture. Gardosh was born in the city of Budapest and after graduating from the city's high school he began his academic studies at the University of Szeged. When World War II broke out, he was sent to forced labor. On returning to Budapest, he learned that his parents and most of his family had perished in the Holocaust. The "Israeli" cartoons of Dosh's work have regularly decorated the newspapers "This World", and "Ma'ariv." In 1956, Dosh first illustrated the character 'Srulik' which gained great popularity in Israeli society.

Provenance: The cartoon was given as a gift by Dosh to one of the heads of the State of Israel.

Size: 32x28 cm. Set in a wooden frame (silver-like) and glass: 44x53 cm. Very good condition.
