A zsidók utja – “The Way of the Jews” – Antisemitic publication by Biró Lajos Published by Pegazus Kiadas, n.p. Vienna, 1921 – First edition. Hungarian.
An antisemitic publication in Hungary that makes use of the ancient hatred of Jews from the Middle Ages to explain the situation of Jews in the 19th and early 20th century. The author uses the old claim that Jews suffer because they did not accept the doctrine of Christianity, but unlike the Middle Ages when most were devout in their religion, in modern times Jews are devout in Zionism and striving for equal rights. According to the writer, Zionism and the Jews’ attempt to cling to Western ideologies are a kind of “religion” and therefore antisemitism in modern times is justified just as it was justified in the Middle Ages. The book is written from a Christian point of view, arguing that racial antisemitism came to fill the void created with the disappearance of the old religious-based anti-Semitism, and it comes as a counterweight to the new path chosen by Jews.
