Three rare means of payment valued 2 marks from the Buchenwald concentration camp. On their front is a Magen David symbol and the inscription “KZ Buchenwald” – “Buchenwald concentration camp”, on the back is printed: 2 Mark. Buchenwald camp, early 1940s.
These means of payment were used for exchange and purchase among the Jewish prisoners themselves, forced laborers in Buchenwald. Among the means of payment available to prisoners in death camps, before us is an example of some of the rarer means of payment which were almost not preserved.
