A photograph of a rabbinical figure (not identified by us) from the 1930s. On the back of the photo is the caption: ""צו אונזער הייליקער מיר ישיבה צום באלד'" - ["To the holy yeshiva Mir, we will meet soon"].
It is possible that this is one of the rabbis or students of the Mir yeshiva that move to Shanghai, who stayed in Mir and did not emigrate with most of the yeshiva to Vilna and then to Shanghai. The rabbis of the yeshiva, together with most of the students, fled to Vilna in 1939, when it came under Lithuanian rule. But it was narrow from containing the 350 yeshiva students and later the yeshiva moved to the beit midrash in the suburb of Novigorod. From there the yeshiva moved to Kidan in Lithuania, later the yeshiva split into three groups in three towns.
