An important book reviewing the history of Kaunas, the capital of Lithuania since World War I, with special emphasis on Jewish fate during the Holocaust from its conquest by the Soviets in September 1939. Continuation of the Nazi invasion on June 22, 1941, as part of Operation Barbarossa until its liberation in the fall of 1944 by the Soviets. Includes important and difficult photographs of all the stages that went through the city - sending a Jew to the death camps, until her release after the war and the fate of her survivors. Tears on back cover and on the edges of last pages.Moderate - good condition
