'ליטעראַרישע בלעטער' (Yiddish: 'Literary Journal') A journal of Yiddish literature, theater and art published in Warsaw between the world wars, between 1924 and 1939. The journal published 730 issues, with twelve pages in each issue, which include literature, and art. When it was published, the newspaper had about 2,000 subscribers, but in just about a year the number of subscribers doubled. It is estimated that about 20,000 people read it regularly, and it was in fact the most central and popular magazine in Warsaw. In its early years it was edited by Israel Joshua Singer, Peretz Markish, Nachman Meisil and Melech Ravitch, but later the sole editor was Nachman Meisil. Important writers such as Yitzhak Bashevis-Singer, Yosef Optosho, Yaakov Glatstein, Chaim Grada, e. Leivik and many other leaders of Yiddish literature attend it. The magazine's editors took a neutral political line, and thanks to this, the newspaper attracted writers and readers from all streams that were then in Polish Jewry. In the beginning, "ליטערארישע בלעטער" appeared in the private publishing house of its editors, but soon (starting with issue 44 in 1925) the prestigious and respected publishing house of BA. Klatzkin was the publisher of the weekly. Before us all the issues from the first period, as well as about 21 issues from the period that the magazine was published under the auspices of Klatzkin Publishing.
