The painter Yaakov Klein, a disciple of his father, the great painter Pinchas Klein, who painted the walls of the 'Taharat Hakodesh' synagogue in Vilnius (also known as the Vilna Choral Synagogue - Vilniaus choralinė sinagoga) - the only surviving of the 105 synagogues in the city. Klein, who was also an actor in the Viennese Yiddish theater, also designed the large copper plate of the cantor's pillar that exists in the synagogue to this day.
