The important book of Zalman Shazar - "Kochvei Boker" (Morning Stars), chapters of memories and chapters of mass, published by Am Oved and Davar, Tel Aviv, 1949 - a dedicated and signed copy by the author in the protective page: "To my friend of youth to Baruch Krupnik, in memory Zalman" and date: Menachem Av .

In this book, Shazar exposes the Jewish-Orthodox aspect of his upbringing in the tradition of his father's home, the Stiebel, and the connection he had as a child to the Rebbe's and "Shomrei Emunim" (Guardians of Faith), the anti-Semitism he experienced in his childhood, and his attitude towards Chabad, the teachings of the Ha'Ari [Isaac Luria], and the doctrine of Kabbalah in general.

Zalman Shazar [1889-1974] the third President of the State of Israel, a writer, poet, historian, a leader of the Zionist movement, a member of the Knesset, and the Minister of Education and Culture in the first government of Israel.

The book recipient is Baruch Krupnik [1889-1972] , a Hebrew writer, journalist, editor, critic, and translator during the Yishuv and the early years of the State. He was twice awarded the Tchernichovsky Prize for outstanding translations (1952 and 1959).
