40 years of Zionist Congress. A guide to the exhibition of the Central Zionist Archive, Jerusalem. At the 20th Zionist Congress in Zurich, August 1937.
In August 1937 an interesting exhibition was held which presented certificates, photographs, and original printed matter related to the First Zionist Congress. The exhibition opens with a number of writings on the history of the idea of Congress from 1882, even before Herzl appeared. There were also sections that dealt with Herzl's influence on the idea of the 'Congress', the preparations for the first congress in Basel, documents and photos related to the congresses that took place until 1937, and more. Most of the documents presented in the exhibition originate from the archives of the Central Zionist Archive in Jerusalem, and in particular from the Herzl Archive, as well as from materials in the National Library. Before us the catalog that accompanied this exhibition. On the title page of the catalog is a photograph of the official postcard issued on the occasion of the First Zionist Congress.
