The booklet includes, large photographs (each photograph over an entire page 26x22 cm) from important cities and sites in Europe, Palestine, North Africa, the Far East, the United States and Canada - Photographs carefully collected by John Stoddard documenting the important cities and sites of the world as seen in the late 19th century. Each photograph is described at its lower margins at length in French. In the first booklet is a portrait of the editor John stoddard and an introduction he wrote to the portfolio.
