A pair of shoes of the girl Clara Ginz from the Lodz ghetto [early 1940s].

The shoes were found after the war by a member of the Ginz family who searched for the remains of his family members who perished in the Holocaust, at a resident of Lodz who bought the Ginz family's belongings before being deported from the ghetto, and have since been kept in the family home. As is well known, Clara, born in Yugoslavia in 1940, perished in the Chelmno camp during one of the deportations of children from the Lodz ghetto. Her name appears on the list of Holocaust victims at Yad Vashem. (About 40,000 Jews deported from Germany, Austria and other regions, as well as about 7,000 gypsies, were taken to the Lodz ghetto in the early 1940s).

provenance: The Ginz family.

Remains of this type (clothing details) from the Lodz ghetto and in general from the ghettos are extremely rare! It is important to note: Family preference that the shoes be purchased by an institution that commemorates the memory of the Holocaust for future generations.

Size 1. 11x6 cm.Tears in the front of the shoes. Good - moderate condition.
