The certificate states that the student Mr. Nissim son of Rabbi Nachum Meir Karlitz "passed the test in the general exam with the participation of the Geniuses from Bnei Brak led by Maran Ha'Gaon the Tzadik the chazon Ish Shalita and in the presence of the Geniuses R. Meir Karlitz and Rabbi Kanievsky Shalita" and excelled in the definite knowledge, with excellent understanding, with excellent perseverance, with excellent leadership, and according to his excellence, will be promoted to the 5th class. At the bottom next to the line of the "examining committee" the signature of Maren HaStaypler holy hand: "Yakov Yisrael Kanievsky", the signatures of the administrators, and the seal of the yeshiva. It is interesting to note: On the back of the certificate, Rabbi Nissim's grades in the general subjects appear in handwriting "Excellence in general studies. Hebrew - excellent. Mathematics - excellent. English - excellent". Around the frame appear quotations from the sources: "There is no Torah like the Torah of Eretz Israel" (Midrash Raba), Derech Eretz Katma LaTorah (Avot), and verses from Mishley.
Yeshiva Tefarat Zion in Bnei Brak was founded in Heshvan 1935 by Maran HaChazon Ish. When the yeshiva was established, seven young men studied there, and by the end of that winter it had about thirty students. Among her first students: the nephews of Maran HaChazon Ish, the geniuses Rabbi Chaim Greiniman, Rabbi Shmarihu Greiniman, Rabbi Nissim Karlitz and Maran HaGaon Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky. Maran HaChazon Ish used to follow the progress of the yeshiva students closely, and would sometimes come to the yeshiva to test the students himself on the Gemara being studied. (It is known for the famous photo in which Maran HaChazon Ish is seen examining pupils in the yeshiva in its early years). Before us an important historical certificate from the second year of the establishment of the yeshiva of the one who later became one of the greatest poskey HaDor, signed by the leader of the generation Maren Hasteifler!
