An advertisement poster for the Second Levant Fair held in Tel Aviv in June 1934. Printed on thick paper.
At the center the levant fair simbol - Flying Camel , ships anchored in the Mediterranean Sea, coming from the Diaspora to visit the Fair, and an arrow leading to an aerial map showing the location of the Levant fair that took place that year at a special place in Tel Aviv. And the caption: 'All the ways of creation lead to the 1934 Levant Fair in Tel Aviv' on the margins of the poster: 'To our national theater Habima' prosperity for Yovella.'
The fair that took place in 1934 was the largest and most successful of the Levant fairs. It was meticulously prepared and for the first time a special fairground was built. The preparations for this fair were larger than the fairs held until that time. Tel Aviv's mayor, Meir Dizengoff, set up the Tel Aviv Development Corporation for the purpose, which allocated 100 dunams of land under the lease from the British Mandate government at the northern end, and almost completely removed from the city. The famous architect Richard Kaufman was chosen for the task. In a strenuous eight-month effort, Tel Aviv residents were amazed by a new area that the called by the people 'the exhibition grounds'. At the beginning of 1934, an advertising and information system was launched that was unprecedented in Israel and abroad. The entire press mobilized to glorify and magnify the plant and published almost daily news about construction. The large and festive event was part of Tel Aviv's One-Half Jubilee celebrations. The opening ceremony was attended by thousands of participants, 'Davar' newspaper reported of 7000 people, while the "Daily Mail" reported about 10,000 people. The number of visitors to the fair, which lasted five weeks, reached a record high of 600,000, for the sake of comparison, the entire settlement contained only 300,000 people at the time. To the extent of the event, Rabbi Kook delivered warm words in praise, And the Chief Rabbis Rabbi Shlomo Aharonson and Rabbi Ben Tzion Chai Uziel honored with their presence. Rare poster. Does not appear in the book "Flying Camel" by Mordechai Naor and Batya Carmiel, Tel Aviv 2010.
