Jews on the main street of Horodenka, 1918. Published by G. Gottlieba. During World War I, Horodenka was occupied by the Russians and the city's Jews were subjected to looting and pogroms. When a unit of Austro-Hungarian soldiers arrived in the city in November 1918, they also attacked the Jews, as did the temporary Ukrainian government that followed.
