Entrance ticket to the 20th Athletics Competition held in Munich in 1972. On the day the competition was scheduled to take place, the Olympic Games were suspended, due to the murder of 11 Israeli athletes by Palestinian terrorists from the "Black September" organization. Instead of the athletics competitions that were supposed to take place on this day - September 6, the funeral ceremony for the murdered took place.
The massacre of athletes at the Munich Olympics was a Palestinian terrorist incident that took place on September 5-6, 1972, during the 20th Olympics held in Munich, West Germany. During the event, 11 members of the delegation: athletes, coaches and judges, members of the Israeli Olympic delegation, were killed by Palestinian terrorists from the "Black September" organization. On the date that appears on the ticket before us (the day after the murder), the Israeli athlete Esther Roth Shakharov, who lived in a building that the terrorists did not reach, was supposed to participate in the semifinals of the 100-meter hurdles, hoping to reach the finals in the semifinals. Instead of running in the semifinals, she went after the coffin of her coach Amitsur Shapira. Following the tragic end of the event, the International Olympic Committee decided to hold a memorial service for the murdered at the Olympic Stadium, and then continue the competitions according to plan 24 hours after they were stopped. A decision that provoked outrage and much criticism. The members of the Israeli delegation flew to Israel immediately after the memorial service, when together with them were flown the ten coffins of the murdered, who were laid to rest in state ceremonies with the participation of many accompanied.
