An unknown handwritten leaf with an ordered list with the names of the 'Ansar' [الأنصار] - supporters of Muhammad, 15th century [?]. Arabic. Black and red ink.
According to Muslim tradition, after the name of Muhammad began to be published due to the stories of wonders associated with him, various groups arose that treated him with hostility and did not accept the "gospel," some of whom were even members of the tribe of the Quraish. In 619 the conflict between Muhammad and the ruling elite became worse. In the city of Al-Madina, however, Muhammed's supporters (immigrants) were concentrated - a title that later became an honorary title attesting to the loyalty of its owners to Islam. Muhammad's supporters were called 'al-Ansar' [الأنصار,' 'the supporters'], and this group has grown over the years. Before us a handwritten list of the names of the first al-Ansar (according to the alphabet) that supported Muhammad. 15th century [?].
[2] p. 32 lines per page. 33x26 cm, pasted to fragment paper to strengthen, missing tears, fine-moderate condition.
