Letter in the handwriting and signature of - Rabbi Chaim Chernovich ['Rav Tzair'], regarding the correct pronunciation of words in the Shas. Lausanne Shvat 6, 1916.

Rabbi Chaim Chernovitz [1870-1949] and in his literary nickname 'Young Rabbi'. Born in Siebież - a small town in Belarus, in his youth he studied at the Kollel of the Prushim, which was under the auspices of Rabbi Yitzchak Elchanan Spector. In 1897 he moved with his family to the Ukrainian city of Odessa, to serve as rabbi of the city. In Odessa he approached the Zionist circles of Ahad Ha'am and his friends, and even began to publish his articles in HaShiloach, the journal of Ahad Ha'am, under the signature 'Rav Tzair' - "Young Rabbi". Due to his approach to Ahad Ha'am, his relations with the ultra-Orthodox deteriorated. Over the years he headed a 'kibbutz' that went its own special way in various places. During World War I he stayed in Lausanne, then moved to the United States and settled in New York.
