Photochrome prints that were popular in the late 19th century are actually a process in which photography is transferred to the lithographic printing board. The process was invented in the 1880s by the Swiss Hans Jakob Schmid, Which preceded slightly the colorful photographic method developed in those years but still not commercially practical, widely used.
