In the ancient period, a canal was constructed from the Gihon spring to irrigate fields in the Kidron Valley, the canal and the pool at the end of which were called " In the name of Shiloah - Shiloah. In the Shiloah Pool, every year, the majority of the people of the Shiloah pool took part in the ritual of water pumping during the Sukkot holiday for the mitzva of water purification in the Temple. The pool was the water reservoir of Jerusalem during the First and Second Temples.
