Moshe Bernstein, a native of Bereza Kartuska Poland, a Yiddish painter, illustrator and poet. He studied at the Academy of Arts in Vilnius (Vilna). Bernstein dedicated his work to documenting the destroyed Eastern European shtetl, and to his works a place of honor among the works of the painters of the missing Jewish world. During World War II fled to the Soviet Union. Immigrated to Eretz Israel in 1947 through the "Aliya B" illegal immigration enterprise, when he arrived in Eretz Israel he was sent by the British to detention camps in Cyprus. There he met the artist Naftali Bezem who came to visit the illegal immigrants imprisoned in the camp. The printed album released by Bezem at the camp included a linoleum cut by Bernstein.
