A rare antisemitic document calling for 'ethnic cleansing' of Jews in Romanian territory - August 1940 - typewritten. Romanian.

The document states that according to a decision of July 6, 1940, the National Renaissance Party is the only party allowed under Romanian law, and as of June 21, 1940, a non-member of the National Party can not be a civil servant, hence Jews will not be able to hold any public office, Even if they or their wives were baptized into Christianity. "Therefore, we announce on retroactive cancellation of any public office held by a Jew, whether permanently or temporarily." The document lists Jews who held senior positions and who were removed from post immediately: "Engineer Salomon Elmin, Terry Scaus, railway workers, and others". below are handwritten inscriptions, Roman stamps from the war peroid, and late ink stamps from 1945.

While implementing the Romanian plan of ethnic cleansing of the provinces of Transylvania and the surrounding area tens of thousands of Jews were executed by Romanian gendarmes and Romanian and German military units during the first months of the war. The Hungarian Fascist regime, which came to power in northern Transylvania in September 1940 following the dictates of Vienna, gradually imposed a regime of prohibitions and restrictions against the Jews, in the fields of economy, society and culture, in accordance with Hungarian legislation. From the first day of the Hungarian rule, the activities of the Jewish press in particular and Zionist activities in general were banned. Jews were fired from legal and public offices and the number of Jewish students dropped below 4%.

Size: 30x22 cm. Very good condition.
