Three postcards depicting various spaces inside the Great Synagogue in Oran [Algeria], published by Levi Fils Paris, early 20th century.
Oran's Great Synagogue [Algeria's second largest city] was located on the Great Mata Mohammad Habib Avenue. The building was completed in 1880 and was the largest in North African synagogues. The synagogue's building style was adapted to French architecture, much like the Algerian religious properties in general that were under French supervision. [In 1972, the synagogue was transformed into a mosque by the new independent Algerian state and architectural changes were made accordingly].
One postcard used. One of the postcards has a few stains and light fades on the top. general condition good .
