The Spirit of the Ghetto - The jewish Quarter in New York by Hutchins Hapgood, Accompanied by more than 50 drawings depicting the lives of Jews by the illustrator Yaakov Epstein. New York 1902 - First edition.

An important book that many of its chapters first appeared in as separate articles in various magazines in the 19th century. Original hardcover designed in the form of a Jew studying by a candle. The illustrator Yaakov Epstein (1880-1959) - painter and sculptor, born in New York, came from a family of devout Jewish immigrants from Eastern Europe. The illustrations in the book sparked public outcry and storms, and some say that for this reason he left New York that year and went to Paris.
