A fancy booklet published for the Jewish population on the occasion of the 1927 Industrial and Art Fair held in Leipzig.
Includes many photographs of the special buildings erected on the occasion of the fair, as well as the various exhibition halls presented at the fair. In addition, the booklet includes numerous graphs and statistics that characterize the industrial development in Leipzig in 1920-1927. The publication greatly influenced the Jewish population, and according to a report published in the 'Daily Mai'l in that year some 60,000 Jews visited it, More than one-third of visitors that year totaled 155,000 visitors.
The Leipzig Fair has actually been held in Leipzig since the Middle Ages, it is first mentioned in a document dated 1165. The fair was held twice a year, in the spring and fall, for about a week. The exhibition included various sections, including a technique that showcased technological innovations, building, books, journalism and art. Between the two world wars, it was one of the largest fairs in the world and was a central meeting point between East and West. The Hebrew daily 'Doar Hayom' used to publish the arrival of the fair every year. An article published on August 9, 1928 shows an interesting description of the 46 pavilions of the fair, which constitute the "largest fair and exhibition in the world." The success of the fair waned as the Nazis came to power, and it was completely abolished in the fall of 1940 when Britain bombed the area during the fair.
