The photo of the Rebbe with his assistants on a city street, hiding his face in his hand. Signed on the back with an ink stamp of KARLSBAD, a photograph that came out during the Rebbe's life and served as a postcard from Bucharest sent on August 2, 1936 - about two months after his death. 9x14 cm. Very Good Condition.
A photograph that came out during the Rebbe's lifetime showing him leaving a public building. Divided on the back for use as a postcard sent by post to England and stamped with the ink stamp of Karlsbad Post in 1934. On the back of the postcard is an inscription from a woman who writes to "Dear Nina" about "the Polish Jews living here", and about the custom of Jewish women to shave their heads and wear a wig. Second on the right of the Rebbe, apparently his brother Rabbi Pinchas, and second on the left is Nissan Yust - [1876 - 1944] - the chief cantor of the synagogue in Vizhnitz, Rabbi Yust composed dozens of melodies as well as prayers for High Holy Days. His works were very popular among the Hasidic courts in Eastern Europe and were frequently sung in the Hasidic synagogues and in the Tishim of the Rebbes in those areas. At the beginning of World War I, Nissan Yost fled with Rabbi Yisrael Hager to Grosswardein, where he continued to compose and work for the dissemination of his works among the Hasidim. When Hungary was occupied by the Nazis, he was taken to the ghetto together with all the Jews of the city, and in May 1944 he perished with most of his family in the Auschwitz death camp. His son, Rabbi Meir Yust, survived the war and became the Chief Rabbi of the Netherlands. 9x14 cm. Very Good Condition.
