A rare photograph showing a group of Yemenite children in the 'Shvut Am' immigrant camp - Beit Lid, 1949.
The "Shvut Am" or "Beit Lid" established as an immigrant camp north of Pardesiya near the Beit Lid crossroads. Beit Lid Camp was one of the first seven immigrant camps established in Israel to absorb new immigrants until they found a housing solution, and was the largest immigrant camp. Initially, the camp was mainly used to absorb Yemeni immigrants. In the summer of 1950, the residents of the Yemeni immigrant camp left the camp, numbered 3,800, and moved to settle in the housing or the Rosh HaAyin camp and replaced the camp for the absorption of additional immigrants.
