Gabriel (Joseph) Talpir [1901-1990] A Hebrew poet, art critic, publisher, editor and translator. Born in Galicia, In his youth joined the Zionist youth movement 'Hahalutz' immigrated to Eretz Israel in 1925. His first poems were printed in Jewish journals in Poland as early as 1924. In 1932 he founded his journal 'Gazit', which became the highlight of all his artistic endeavors. For many years, Gazit was the only Hebrew journal devoted to plastic art, and Gabriel Talpir, with the help of his wife, Miriam Talpir, devoted most of their efforts and resources. The collection of Gabriel Talpir's estate is currently in the Israel Museum.
