36 photographs of pioneering training camps of "HaShomer Kadima" in Bratislava [Slovakia], 1924-1929.

The photographs depict a pioneering training program of The HaShomer Kadima youth movement (later "Hashomer Hatzair") at various landscape sites in Bratislava. In the large part of their backs is the signature of movement member Reuven shmeltz, recommends in Hebrew. Some are depicted and dated in the table in the body of the photographs.

There was a lot of Zionist activity in Bratislava. As early as 1897, the first Zionist group was organized - "Ahavat Zion", which has 25 members under the leadership of Samuel Bettelheim and in 1899 there were about 180 members. About ten years later, four Zionist organizations and movements have already been active in the city: "Ahavat Zion", "Mizrachi", "Poalei Zion" and "Tzehirey Zion". After World War I, Zionist activity in Bratislava was renewed more intensively. Founded the "Slovak Zionist Association" - a top organiztion for 15 local Zionist associations in different cities. During World War II, Zionist youth movements, including hundreds of youth, operated in Bratislava. Each party had its own youth movement. In 1921, the first Zionist youth movement was founded -
"Hashomer Kadima", later "Hashomer Hatzair", in the dozens of compartments that rose one by one, a vibrant youth company was established, as a complete life solution: immigration to Israel and fulfillment in the kibbutz. Many of the youth movement's graduates went to pioneering training kibbutzim and some immigrated to Israel.

Photographs from the early days of the movement are rare, small part of them appear in the Yad Vashem Archives and in several archives in Israel and around the world.
