Rabbi Aharon Marcus [1843-1916] writer and linguist, one of the first Zionist movement in Galicia. Was born in Hamburg. Orphaned from his parents as a child and grew up with his grandmother. learned from Rabbi Baruch Yitzchak Lifshitz the son of the "Tiferet Israel" owner on the Mishna. He studied languages (also of the ancient world), philosophy and general studies. During his studies, he wandered to Eastern Europe and settled in Krakow (then Galicia, in the area of the Austro-Hungarian Empire; now Poland), where he approached the Radomsk Hasidism and was with the close disciples of Rabbi Shlomo HaCohen Rabinovich of the "Tiferet Slomo". Upon his passing, he approached the Rebbe of Beit Rouzin and especially to Rabbi David Moshe Friedman the Rebbe of Chortkov. Among his books: "Hasidism" - his most famous book, in which presented Hasidism and its teachings to Western Jewry in Western terms.
