Rabbi Zvi Peretz Hayut (1876-1927), rabbi, historian and biblical scholar. Born in Galicia, where he studied at a yeshiva and was ordained a rabbi, the grandson of the Maharatz Hayut. Served as rabbi of the community in Florence from 1901, teaching in the rabbinical seminary in Florence and teaching biblical studies at the local university. In 1912 he became rabbi of the Trieste community, later one of the most prominent leaders of Italian Jewry. From 1918 he served as the chief rabbi of Vienna and established a beit midrash for teachers there. Died in Vienna in 1927, buried in Tel Aviv.
