Souvenir de Jerusalem - Maison Bonfils phot. Beyrouth - "Souvenir from Jerusalem", album of photographs by Maison Bonfils (the original name of Felix Bonfils's photography agency), Beirut. Published by Dr. Trenkler & Co., Leipzig, late 19th century.

Album with 30 large photographs across a full page of views from Jerusalem, Rachel's Tomb, Jaffa, Tiberias, the Jordan River, Jericho, the Dead Sea and other places. Most of the photographs document important sites in Jerusalem - the Western Wall, the Mount of Olives, the railway station, Jaffa Gate, Temple Mount, Foundation Stone , Damascus Gate , the Gate of Mercy and more.

The renowned photographer of Eretz Israel Felix Bonfils arrived in Beirut in 1867 where he opened the Maison Bonfils photography studio with his wife and son Adrian. This was the original name given by Bonfils to the large photography company he established. Some ten years later he changed its name to "F. Bonfils et Cie. Bonfils" period in Lebanon was extremely fruitful. His publisher's catalogue notes over 15,000 photographs in the early 1870s made from almost 200 negatives. Before us is a collection of the iconic photographs from Bonfils' early photography period.
