First press photo of the young Sultan of Morocco Mohammed V, and his young son. Described and dated on the back by the photography agency: Paris, August 17, 1931. Taken during the Sultan's visit to the International Colonial Exhibition held in France.

On the piece of paper printed on the back of the photograph is described: "His Majesty the Sultan of Morocco, in a first photograph with his young son. The photo was taken at GARE DE LYON, when the Sultan and his entourage arrived to participate in the International Colonial Exhibition. The Moroccan leader was received by a distinguished party including President Doumer and French Prime Minister Pierre Laval".

Mohammed V bin Yusuf [1909-1961] was the Sultan of Morocco under the French occupation between 1927-1953, and King of independent Morocco from 1955 until 1961. He is considered the father of the Moroccan nation and its liberator from French colonialism. He was the twentieth king in the ruling Alaouite dynasty in Morocco since the mid-17th century.
