Two photographs of the coffins of the fighters who fell during the War of Independence in the Old City being brought for burial on the Mount of Olives. In one of the photographs, Rabbi Aryeh Levin appears accompanying the fallen on their last journey, with Menachem Begin nearby. With the fall of the Jewish quarter in 1948, many of the victims of the War of Liberation remained temporarily buried in the courtyards of the abandoned Jewish quarter, after the Six Day War with the occupation of the Old City, their bones were brought to eternal rest on the Mount of Olives in August 1967.

Photograph of the coffins being brought for burial: 23x16 cm. Attached is the "Panim el Panim" issue which reviews in detail the burial of the fallen of 1948. The photograph showing IDF soldiers carrying the coffins appears on the title page of the newspaper.

The back of both photographs are signed by ink stamp "Photo Weiss Jerusalem". General Condition Good.
