The Tablet of Memory Showing Every Memorable Event in History from the Earliest Period to the Year 1792 - edited by Philip Luckombe, London, 1792. Pocket edition. One of the first publications ever written that provided a comprehensive overview of world history. Original English edition. The Tablet was written by several different authors, including Philip Luckombe, Thomas Gent and John Nichols.

Until the publication of "The Tablet of Memory", most people's knowledge of world history was limited to the history of their own country or region. When "The Tablet of Memory" was published it was the first time people were exposed to other cultures, countries and peoples globally. The calendar was first published in the mid 18th century and more details were added with each new edition, until the definitive edition published in 1809. The calendar includes countless events documenting natural disasters, fires, rains and severe storms that occurred in various European cities and caused their destruction, earthquakes (including disasters in Eretz Israel), historical discoveries, discoveries of countries, royal dynasty histories, extensive details of royal decrees, issuing of new coins, executions, important information about private and public libraries around the world, road paving and construction of important historical buildings and sites, and more.
The Tablet is divided into two parts. The first part is a chronological list of prominent events in world history including prominent events in the history of the United States, from the earliest periods until 1792. The second part is an alphabetical list of prominent figures in world history, with short biographies.

It remains an important source for historians today, and provides an accurate picture of world history from the earliest periods until the early 19th century. Due to its popularity it was translated into many languages, including French, German and Spanish.
