A large photograph of the teachers of the school for girls in Jaffa and guests. Among others, Chaim Nachman Bialik (seated in the first row, in the center), and Ravnitsky (sitting next to Bialik) appears. Also seen is the director of the school, the first aliya man Mordechai Tsari (Krishevsky), and teachers. Tel Aviv, 1909.

The photo was taken during Bialik's first visit to Eretz Israel. Bialik arrived in Jaffa on March 29 together with Rabnitsky and was received with great admiration by the small Jewish settlement. From Jaffa he went on a tour of the colonies of Eretz Israel. Accompanying him for part of this tour was the young writer S. Y. Agnon, who lived in Jaffa. This was the beginning of their friendship, which lasted until Bialik's death. At that time, among other things, Bialik wrote his story "Behind the Fence".

Photograph: 30x24 cm. Lower right corner restored. Wood and glass frame 41x36 cm. Good condition.
