A handwritten financial commitment note made for the Altona community, in which Rabbi Yosef son of Rabbi Yaakov Amdin commits a sum of ten thousand coins for the community until Biat HaGoel, so that the profits from the commitment will be used according to his will for the community's needs. In the second part of the note, the signature of "Yosef Bala'a Ya'akov Emdin ZL". 1801.

We did not find another signature of Rabbi Yosef son of Rabbi Yaakov Emdin for comparison. Rabbi Yaakov Emdin's son is known as "Yosef" who was born from his third marriage with the Rebbetzin Tzvia Rachel, Daughter of his brother Rabbi Ephraim, and the note before us was made in Altona which is known as the City of residence of his great father - Rabbi Yaakov Emdin. Also the detail of the year that appears before us [1801] hints at this, since Rabbi Yaakov Emdin died in 1776, and his son was born to him from his last third marriage. Hence before us is probably the rare signature of Rabbi Yosef the son of the famous Yavet'z.

[1] p. Thick paper. 23x18 cm. Very good condition.
