Copento - [Marriage Box] - Impressive Jewish jewelry Porcelain box with biblical scenes, and a Star of David - Art Nouveau. Italy, 19th century.
On the lid and on the sides of the box are biblical scenes, gems and gilding: the binding of Isaac, Moshe BaYeor, Shimson in the palace of the Philistines, the bondage of Egypt, Jacob and the angel, and others. At the base, stamp of the manufacturer 'N [North] Italy'.
In northern Italy as early as the 15th century, it was customary to give such boxes to a woman on the occasion of her wedding. See Collection of the Israel Museum Record No. B51.04.0207; 131/030.

Size: 22x13 cm. Height: 14 cm. The lid is opened using a transverse axis. Slight fractures in the lid.
