Early letter signed by Moshe Sharet (signed by M. Shertok) to Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac Halevi Herzog. It was written while Sharett was the head of the political department of the Jewish Agency and Rabbi Herzog was the Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi of Eretz Israel. In his letter, Sharett writes: "On the part of the Jewish Agency, the necessary steps have been taken towards the government, both in Jerusalem and in London, to ensure that in the next aliyah season the discrimination of the rabbis made in the previous season will not return, with great respect (signed), M. Shertok. 24 Elul 24 1935.
In his letter, Sharett refers to the well-known phenomenon practiced by the Jewish Agency in favoring assistance to non-observant Zionist immigrants over rabbis and observant observers, both in the aliyah permits and in caring for them, and undertakes to ensure that this deprivation does not recur in the next aliyah season.
