INNO NAZIONALE EBRAICO - Hatikvah. The Hatikvah anthem translated into Italian and into Italian - Hebrew page by page. Special printing by Tipografia Giuntina Florence, preserved from the Mestre DP camp in Italy. On the front there is a sticker "Remember what Amalek did to you" with a yellow patch illustration and the word "Jude". Extremely rare.

After the war, about 35 displaced persons camps operated in Italy. There were small camps with dozens of Jews living there, and there were others that housed hundreds and even thousands of Jews. In November 1944, the soldiers of the Jewish Brigade arrived in Italy. After the battles, the brigade was stationed in Tarvisio, Italy, near the border with Yugoslavia and Austria. Missions were sent from Tarvisio to Eastern Europe and to the displaced persons camps in Austria and Germany, and soon survivors of the Jewish youngsters fought across Europe joined the brigade. At the same time, training groups arrived in Italy to train the displaced persons in pre-military training before they were drafted into the Israeli defense forces. In northern Italy, the Beitar movement operated in Florence, in Mestre near Venice and in Milan.

Before us is a rare historical relic from the Mestre concentration camp. We did not find a similar example in the National Library, nor in any bibliographic record of this printing of "Hatikvah", especially with the yellow patch sticker.

[4] 18x12.5 cm. Stains. Good condition.
