Two historical photographs from the swearing-in ceremony of the first president Haim Weizmann - February 17, 1949. In both, the president is seen swearing allegiance to the building of the national institutions.
In his historic speech at the ceremony, Weizmann promised to act according to his favorite verse, "צִיּוֹן בְּמִשְׁפָּט תִּפָּדֶה וְשָׁבֶיהָ בִּצְדָקָה" and ended with the "Shehehianu" blessing, during which his voice was broken. In the background can seen Moshe Sharett and the Ashkenazi and Sephardi chief rabbis.
Different sizes: 21x30 and 18x13 cm. In the large photograph, signs of moisture at the bottom. The other photograph is in very good condition.
