Jerusalem by Sven Hedin, published by S.A. Brockhaus. Leipzig, 1918 - First edition. Jerusalem and its surroundings - Photographs, illustrations, maps.
A travel book to Jerusalem accompanied by a lot of photographs of the ancient city and its surroundings, illustrations of Jerusalemite figures in their traditional attire, and two maps of the city of Jerusalem. The book is dedicated to the Turkish navy minister and supreme commander of the Fourth Army, His Excellency Jamal Pasha, by the author with honor and gratitude. (Printed dedication). At the end of his long journey to Jerusalem and its surroundings, the author returned to Leipzig but passed away before his time, and the introduction to the book was written by his son. The author describes Jerusalem and its surroundings both from a topographical perspective and from the perspective of its population and customs. Alongside a comprehensive overview of the city of Jerusalem and its various communities, the author also addresses England's interventionist motives in the East and criticizes its imperialistic aspirations unnecessarily.
