Two parts of two editions of the book "Knesset HaGedolah", Bindings with Dedications to the Jewish Library in Oran, Algeria:
• Knesset HaGedolah, Choshen Mishpat, Parts I-II, likutey psakim and glosses on the Tur and its commentaries and on the Shulchan Aruch, by Rabbi Chaim Benveniste - Rabbi of Izmir. Izmir, [1734]. First edition of part II and Second edition of part I.
• Knesset HaGedolah, Yoreh De'ah – sections 1-68, by Rabbi Chaim Benveniste Rabbi of Izmir. Salonika, [1807]. Second edition.
Both volumes bound with gilt-decorated Luxurious leather bindings. A dedication to the Jewish library in Oran - Algeria is lettered on front book cover of each volume, dated 1887: "זאת התורה לעולה למנחה קדש לה' הקריבו אותו בני אברהם חסאן נ"ע [=נשמתו עדן] ידיד ה', לבית עקד הספרים שק"ק [=של קהילת קודש] והראן... יום ר"ח סיון ש'[נת] התרמ"ז לי"ץ [=ליצירה]".
Signatures and inscriptions: On the title page of the volume Yoreh De'a: "של עט"ר מרן אבא נר"ו". On the page after the title page in the volume Hoshen Mishpat: "יעקב מאיר ה"י" A short proofreading signed: "הצעיר יה"ל ס"ט".
Choshen Mishpat: [2], 394 leaves. 30 cm. Yoreh De'ah: [1], 312 leaves. 28.5 cm. Stains. Wear and tear on covers. Moth marks on book pages in part with damage to text. Missing tears on the title page of the Hoshen Mishpat volume and on other pages, with damage to the text and the title page.
