La Gerusalemme Liberata di Torquato Tasso, pubblicata da A. Buttura -
"liberated Jerusalem" by Torquato Tasso, published by Parigi, presso Lefevre Librajo, Paris 1820. Part Four - the part about Jerusalem. A dedication from 1821 on the protective page. Miniature edition.

Magnificent edition from the Italian Poetic Library project (biblioteca poetica italiana) edited by Antonio Buttura (1770-1832). The edition was published in 30 volumes divided into the first, second and third ages of Italian poetry. Buttura, siding with the French occupiers, was forced, after the Austrian revenge of 1799, to take refuge in France, where he became a central figure of the Italian community in Paris, as well as the architect of editing the series that became one of the classics of France in the first decades of the 19th century. The part before us deals with Jerusalem as the capital of the Eastern empires, and the battles that took place in Jerusalem and its surroundings over the years.

255 p. 10 cm. Magnificent fabric cover with gilt decorative frame. Very good condition
